Pray for the people in FIM’s Leadership Team who travel to Colleges and Universities to share FIM’s ministry with students and faculty.  Pray that God would send us those people He intends to serve with FIM.

Travel Opportunities

Pray for two of our Leadership Team as they travel to Uganda to encourage the widow of Charles Kalule.  Pray for safety, wisdom, and an effective ministry to this great family in their loss.

Child Evangelism Fellowship

After training the teachers, Gilberto & Helen Filsinger have been able to teach Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) classes in two public schools in Brazil. Over 200 children were regularly present at one school while over 250 students were regular attendees in another school. In addition to the children, teachers and principals enjoyed the “magic” tricks and heard the Gospel presentation. More than 100 third and fourth graders made professions of salvation.

Tips for Defining Your Vision

“Faithful is He who calls you, who also will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24
Has the Lord laid on your heart a burden for a particular ministry, people or country?  Has He energized you with the difference He wants to make through you?  The vision He has given you of what the future will be like when your mission is accomplished is the key to keeping you in line with what God is doing.  It’s a critical compass for your entire ministry.
Farmers know that, to plow a straight furrow, you must focus on an object at the end of the field and not take your eyes off it.  Otherwise the furrow will be crooked and you will spend more time to get less benefit.  The same is true in ministry.  We must keep our focus on the vision God has given us or we will become distracted, frustrated, and less effective.  Let’s think about the ministry vision God has given you.  Remember we’re talking about “vision”, what you see, not what you do to make it happen.  Think in terms of a mental video clip or snapshot and ask the Lord to guide you.

The Present Scene

What is the need that God faced you with?  Can you describe the present reality of the people God burdened you to reach?

Who are they?
What are they doing?
What are they feeling?
What is their expectation?

The Future Scene

Imagine yourself at the end of your ministry or the end of your life.  You have obeyed God’s call and served Him faithfully.  He has accomplished the purpose for which He called you.  What is the scene (desired future) you envision as a result of your ministry?  Be creative and give as much detail as possible.  What is the desired future reality of the people God burdened you to reach?

Who are they?
What are they doing?
What are they feeling?
What is their expectation?

Now that you have brought your vision into much greater focus and definition, don’t put it in a drawer.  Keep your eyes on your vision.  Consider it frequently and tweak it as you get closer and can see it more clearly.  Your mission will be based on your vision; it’s what you will do to bring the vision to reality.  Your vision will guide your strategies and help you to say “no” to the things you shouldn’t be doing (activities that will drain time and energy away from the goal instead of bringing you closer to it).

Once you have a clearly focused Vision, you are ready to consider the direction you will take to get there (your Mission) and the details (strategies and goals).  Take a look at Developing a Personal Mission Statement for the next step.
