Following the collapse of the shipbuilding industry, Sunderland, England has been economically depressed. Yet this city is where immigrants and refugees are given housing. The population is now very diverse.
Like many dying churches in England, a congregation in Sunderland had dwindled to less than 10 elderly members. But they were eager to work with Dave & Cheri Kelso, veteran missionaries whose ministry is to nurse churches in England back to health. They agreed to pray for local families to start attending.
The Lord is at work! It has not been without struggles (as seen from the photo). But less than a year later, the church is averaging 75 in attendance! It is a very diverse congregation now, with people from 16 nationalities! For 55% of the attenders, English is not their first language!
